Healthy on the Highway

If you read my last post you’ll know that I spent the majority of August in the car! On road trips our car is always well stocked with snacks. We tried to choose healthier (but still yummy) snacks for this trip. Hopefully this will give you ideas for goodies for your next journey!

{All That & a Bag of Chips}

Boom Chicka Pop Is gluten free and non-GMO still good for you even when you eat the whole bag? I hope so!

Snapea Crisps Yet another snack that I would gladly devour the entire bag.

Nut-Thins  These crackers pair perfectly with hummus or cheese, are not messy and are super tasty!

Pretzel Crisps

PopChips These are so much healthier than typical potato chips. In my opinion they taste better too!

Annie’s Bunny Crackers

Trail Mix: You could choose to make your own or purchase a prepackaged mix. Here are some flavor combo ideas:

  • Honey sesame sticks, sunflower seeds, Craisins & dark chocolate chips
  • Pretzels, M&M’s, peanuts & raisins
  • Cashews, banana chips, sunflower seeds & peanut butter chips
  • Almonds, pumpkin seeds & dark chocolate raisins

Pita Chips +

Veggies + Hummus, Ranch or Guacamole

  • sugar snap peas
  • baby carrots
  • broccoli or cauliflower florets
  • celery sticks
  • cherry tomatoes
  • cucumber slices
  • bell pepper slices


String Cheese

{Sugar, Yes Please!}

Mott’s Medleys Fruit Snacks It’s pretty embarrassing how many packs of these we ate on our trip. They are SO yummy.

Fresh Fruit:

  • apple slices
  • any fruits with a peel
  • grapes
  • berries

Chocolate Covered Craisins

Lara Bars

Quest Bars I recommend the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor!

Kashi Cookies

Monster Cookie Energy Bites

Chobani Flips If you have a cooler in your car, these are great for a yummy snack or a quick breakfast.

GoGo Squeez Easy, on the go applesauce.

Muffins: We made homemade banana and pumpkin spice muffins for the early mornings on the road.

Dried Fruit


Honest Kids + Tea

Bai5 These exotically flavored drinks are filled with antioxidants.

Naked Juice

PACT Cranberry Water This contains PACs, or proanthocyanidins, derived from cranberries, to cleanse and purify your body.

Hint Waters These offer refreshing sweet flavor without the unnecessary sugars!
I enjoyed the blackberry flavor.

Izze A refreshing bubbly treat, these waters are a healthier alternative to soda.
